Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed yesterday that he extended an invitation to his Greek counterpart to visit Australia.

"The new Prime Minister of Greece, who we hope to be welcoming to Australia next year, in the first half of next year. And I know there’ll be about 400 000 thousand Australians of Greek decent will be saying Yasou to that. Absolutely we’re looking forward to a great visit." said Mr Morrison.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York yesterday.

They had positive discussions on a range of issues, with one of them being the geographically protected products like feta cheese. The discussion was in the context of the new trade agreement that Australia is seeking to reach with the European Union.
