Scott Morrison alongside his wife, Jenny Morrison, and MP Melissa McIntosh paid the Greek Australian family a visit last week while touring flood-affected areas in Western Sydney.

Nick and Irene Magnisalis lost the home they built with their own hands more than four decades ago.

The Greek Australian couple, both retirees in their 70s and 80s, managed a last minute escape when flooding waters engulfed their property.

As noted in a fundraising page set up to help them rebuild their home, they hadn’t been notified to evacuate.

In the face of adversity, the family has remained true to their values. When visited by PM Morrison and wife along with local MP Melissa McIntosh in the aftermath of the flood devastation, they treated guests with a Greek hospitality welcoming.

As seen in the pictures posted by the couple’s daughter-in-law from the visit, a barbeque took place on the day with meat on the spit featuring as the signature Greek dish.
In the official Facebook page for Scott Morrison, a post was dedicated to the “amazing Magnisalis family” who “lost almost everything, but the way their whole family has gathered together, working day and night on the cleanup, shows they have built something really special that even floodwaters can’t take away.”

Federal member for Lindsay, Ms McIntosh also posted photos from the day captioned

“Such a beautiful family, sharing their Greek hospitality with me, along with the Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Jenny even though they are going through so much.”
