Greek, Australian passports feature high in global ranking for 2021

The Henley Passport Index gauges a passport’s ‘strength’, “according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa”.

According to the latest ranking revealed, passports of Greece and Australia remain amongst the most powerful ones.

Occupying the 8^th place out of 110 in total, they grant access to 184 countries respectively without a visa needed to be issued.

Visa-free travel for the same number of destinations is guaranteed for Maltese and Czech Republic passport holders.

The ranking is based on data sourced directly from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and complemented by research.

Aside from the latest update for the current year, historical data comparisons of passport rankings are available at the Henley Passport Index website.

With access to 191 countries, the Japanese passport aces the list for the third consecutive year.

Meanwhile, the Cypriot passport while not featured in the top 10 holds a strong position globally ranked 15^th, allowing travel without visa to 174 countries.

Both Cyprus and Australia moved up a place since last year.
