Australia calls China to apologise over fake tweet

Scott Morrison has demanded that the Chinese government apologises over a fake tweet depicting an Australian soldier threatening a child.

A tweet by China's foreign ministry spokesman Lijan Zhao has provoked an outcry from the Australian government, with Scott Morrison demanding that the Chinese Government apologises.

''The Chinese government should be totally ashamed for this post,'' said Mr Morrison. 

"It is an outrageous and disgusting slur and in the interests of decency they should take it down."
