This year’s 25 March parade in Melbourne has been cancelled due to pandemic restrictions, but the line-up celebrating the 200 years’ anniversary of the Greek War of Independence remains promising and packed with events.
Many Greek community organisations will be holding events and activities not just for the month of March but throughout 2021.
The cohort of 23 entities listed below have been successful in their grant applications claiming their share of a $200,000 funding pool.
Recipients of the special fund were announced this week by the Department of Multicultural Affairs, as part of a $700,000 program supporting 205 community organisations across the state to hold multicultural events until the end of June.

“Victorians have a lot to celebrate after a very challenging year and the Multicultural Festivals and Events program will support our communities to safely come together and do just that,” Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence said in a statement.
Apart from the Greek bicentennial celebration fund, a dedicated $50,000 fund has also been set up this year in support of Hindu festivals and events.
