Melbourne returns to lockdown

All of greater Melbourne and the Shire of Mitchell in Victoria will be locked down for at least six weeks from midnight on Wednesday, July 8.


Hotel quarantine failures saw the virus spread through the community and, despite a testing blitz and the hard lockdown of some public housing estates, Victoria's Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton says there's no alternative but to reimpose stage three restrictions.
