NSW, a few flood warnings remain as more financial help becomes available

Final flood warnings have been issued in the last 24 hours by the Bureau of Meteorology for the Lower Hunter, Hawkesbury, Lachlan, Lower Weir, Lower Macintyre and Snowy rivers.

No further warnings will be issued for the floods that took place in those areas, as water levels are easing.

There are still minor to moderate flood warning for the Culgoa, Birrie, Bokhara, and Narran Rivers, a minor flood warning for the Paroo River and a minor to major flood warning for the Barwon River.

Trains on several Sydney lines are being replaced by buses.

Sydney Trains chief executive Matt Longland told radio station 2-G-B that a number of routes are still flooded.


The Federal Government is now providing financial help to those impacted by the Queensland and New South Wales floods.

Support measures include $1,000 recovery payment, up to 13-week disaster allowance and up to $900 personal hardship support, as well as grants for farmers and small businesses.

In the last two weeks, the State Emergency Service (SES) has directed people to evacuate from a number of areas at risk of being isolated.

Some of these orders are still in place. An updated map with the Sydney suburbs still affected by evacuation orders is available
