COVID-19 update: Victoria extends lockdown, NSW confirms 98 new cases

Victoria's five-day lockdown is extended
New South Wales has recorded 98 local cases today, with 20 infectious in the community

Victoria

Victoria's lockdown will not end on Tuesday night as planned. Premier Daniel Andrews has yet to determine rules and timelines for lifting the lockdown.

Victoria has recorded 13 new local coronavirus cases and 1 case was acquired overseas. The total number of active cases in Victoria is 81.

There are currently 15,800 primary close contacts in quarantine or isolation, with over 250 new exposure sites. Find here, the

New South Wales

New South Wales has recorded 98 new local coronavirus cases, with two-thirds of cases detected in South-West Sydney. 61 cases were linked to a known cluster; the source of 37 cases is still under investigation. 20 of the new cases were in the community for more than one day whilst infectious.

In Greater Sydney the newly imposed restrictions include a ban on all construction work and the closure of non-essential retail outlets, excluding supermarkets, pharmacies, banks and liquor stores.

Service NSW has opened applications for the COVID lockdown grant for small to medium businesses. Businesses that received previous COVID-19 small business grants, including the 2020 Small Business COVID-19 Support and Small Business Recovery grants can apply.
