COVID-19 update: NSW tightens lockdown restrictions

Across Greater Sydney, non-essential retail premises will be required to close from 11:59 pm today
Victoria's new 19 cases linked to existing clusters

New South Wales

From 11.59 pm today until 30 July, residents in the local government areas of

Fairfield

Canterbury-Bankstown

and

Liverpool

will not be allowed to leave those regions for work unless they are healthcare workers or members of the emergency services.

Across Greater Sydney, from 11.59 pm today, non-essential retail premises will be required to close, although click and collect, takeaway, and home delivery services can still operate.

From 12:01 am Monday, 19 July, all construction work and non-urgent maintenance, including cleaning services and repair work on residential premises, will be paused.

New South Wales has recorded 111 new local coronavirus cases, and a man in his late-80s has died in South-Eastern Sydney. Find here, the

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 19 new local coronavirus cases. All cases have been linked to existing clusters. The total number of active cases in Victoria is 54.

There were no community transition cases in Queensland in the last 24 hours.
For the first time Coronavirus fragments have been detected in Northern Territory wastewater outside the Howard Springs and Royal Darwin Hospital.
