COVID-19 update: NSW running COVID vaccination blitz for Indigenous communities, Victoria sets new record COVID-19 cases

  • NSW is running a state-wide COVID vaccination blitz for Indigenous communities.
  • Public transport to central Melbourne suspended for six hours

New South Wales
NSW has recorded 1,331 locally acquired cases, and six deaths. There are currently 1,219 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital.

NSW Health's Dr Jeremy McAnulty reported that 81.2 per cent of the eligible population have received one dose of the vaccine, and 50.6 per cent are now fully inoculated.

New South Wales Health is running a state-wide COVID vaccination blitz for Indigenous communities this weekend. The clinics are giving priority Pfizer vaccines to indigenous people 12 years and over.

Victoria
Victoria has recorded 535 new locally acquired cases, and one death. Of those, 62 have so far been linked to known cases and outbreaks.

Public transport to Melbourne CBD is suspended for six hours in a bid to disrupt planned anti-lockdown protests. Victoria's Department of Transport warned only essential workers and people attending vaccination appointments will be allowed into the CBD.
