COVID-19 update: NSW extends regional restrictions, VIC marks 200 days of lockdown

New South Wales
NSW has recorded 681 new locally acquired cases, with at least 87 cases in the community while infectious. A man in his 80s died, bringing the total of COVID-related deaths in the current Delta outbreak to 61.

Merrylands, Guildford, Auburn, Granville, Lidcombe, Greenacre and Blacktown are areas generating the majority of cases, says NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

Victoria
Victoria has recorded 57 new locally acquired cases, out of which three are not linked to known outbreaks. Thirteen cases were in the community while infectious.

Deputy Chief Health Officer Ben Cowie says repeated testing of wastewater shows detections of the virus in Shepparton in north east Victoria and in the Melbourne suburb of Ardeer.

Australian Capital Territory
The ACT records 16 new locally acquired cases, out of which five are not linked to known outbreaks.  The total number of active cases in Canberra is 83.  

Canberra's light rail, bus routes, an early learning centre at Turner and a Belconnen general practice are among new close contact .
