COVID-19 update: NSW cases surpass 1000, more freedoms announced for vaccinated residents

New South Wales 

NSW has recorded 1,029 new locally acquired cases, with at least 37 in the community while infectious. Three unvaccinated people have died.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced greater freedoms for fully vaccinated residents from 13 September:

  • People who live outside of the local government areas of concern will be able to gather outdoors in groups of five, within five kilometres from home.
  • Households inside will also be able to gather outdoors but will need to follow existing restrictions around curfews and exercise limits.

Victoria
Victoria has recorded 80 new locally acquired cases, with 41 cases in the community while infectious.

People under 40, who already have an AstraZeneca appointment, will now automatically receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as 25,000 Pfizer doses have reached Victoria, COVID Commander Jeroen Weimar said.

Australian Capital Territory
The ACT has recorded 14 new locally acquired cases bringing the total number of active cases to 190.

Canberra businesses impacted by the lockdown can now of up to $10,000 for employing companies and up to $4,000 for non-employing businesses.
