COVID-19 update: NSW cases in triple digits, Queensland on high alert

New South Wales

NSW has recorded 145 new locally acquired cases. The number of cases in Fairfield has gone down. Police Commissioner Mick Fuller warned anyone planning on protesting in Sydney during the lockdown will be arrested.

In the coming days, local pharmacies will be able to offer the AstraZeneca vaccine to over 60s, says NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant, stressing there is a scarcity of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Victoria

Victoria has recorded 11 new locally cases. All cases are linked to current Delta variant outbreaks and were in quarantine while infectious. The total number of active cases is 190.

The fifth lockdown is due to end at 11:59 pm on Tuesday, 27 July, but authorities say, "nothing has yet been finalised”.

SA is on track to lift lockdown restrictions on Wednesday, 12:01 am, but some rules will remain in place.
According to the federal health department there are 2117 active COVID-19 cases in Australia.
