During the Covid-19 pandemic, much more healthcare workers engaged in the frontline to combat the virus. They drive to work but find it difficult to find a parking space.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, people try to work from home and reduce outdoor activities as much as possible, as a result of which, the parking spaces along the roads near hospitals are occupied for long.

Coupled with the increase in the number of doctors during the pandemic, this makes the parking spaces even more scarce.

On social media, in an initiative called "Adopt a Healthcare Worker", healthcare workers had expressed their frustration with the lack of parking at their hospitals as well as the high cost of parking, which saw some members of the group offer up their driveway in the message thread.

Lisa Qi is the cofounder of Share with Oscar, a company that shares parking spaces. Her company launched an appeal to encourage people and companies with parking spaces near hospitals to share them with healthcare workers during the pandemic.

Lisa told SBS Mandarin, "We know these are tough times for everyone, but to think that parking or safely commuting to work is a concern for healthcare workers at this time, is unacceptable. We realised that this was something that we could help with, we had the technology/platform, and put our faith in the goodness of the community to share their parking space for FREE."

"We are appealing to residents who live near a hospital, and also businesses who are within walking distance to a hospital to please make your parking space available for our healthcare heroes for FREE. In unprecedented times like these, we all need to do our part for the greater good of the community and take care of one another. "
