SBS launches new language service for Rohingya community

The radio service provides a platform for one of Australia's growing communities.

SBS Radio will now offer community updates and a settlement guide for Rohingya speakers in a new platform launched on Monday.

The new service will offer expert advice and tips on daily Australian life for new Rohingya migrants looking to settle into the local communities.

The content, available via on-demand audio podcasts, is aimed to help celebrate the culture of a growing community in Australia.

“SBS Radio recently reviewed its language services in conjunction with the 2016 Census, which resulted in providing services to new and emerging communities," SBS Director of Audio and Language Content Mandi Wicks said.

"We’re thrilled to be expanding our services to include the Rohingya-speaking community in Australia."

All Rohingya content will be available digitally via on-demand audio podcasts accessible via  and the SBS Radio app.
