A 21-year-old woman was walking west along the south side of the Burwood Highway when she was approached from behind by a man sometime between 10-10.15am on Thursday 23 January 2014.
The offender dragged the woman into the front yard of an unoccupied house on the south-west corner of Station Street.
He then physically and sexually assaulted the woman inside the house.
The man is perceived to be of Asian appearance and aged between 35 to 45-years-old.
He was wearing a brown jacket and tan-coloured pants.
Investigators have released a digital image of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
Detectives will set up an information caravan today on the Burwood Highway near Station Street from 9am.
It has been three years since the attack occurred near the busy intersection in Burwood and police are hoping to speak to anyone that may have been passing through the area on that day.
A reward of up to $500,000 will be paid at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner of Police for information leading to the apprehension and subsequent conviction of the person or persons responsible for the sexual assault.
In appropriate cases, the DPP may consider, according to established guidelines, the granting of indemnification from prosecution to any person who provides information as to the identity of the principal offender or offenders in this matter.
Any payment of a reward will be subject to the applicant signing a deed of confidentiality prior to payment.
