Over the past few months, the Hills Police have received a few reports of missing elder person from Asian background. These elders have left the house for a walk with no information being passed to the family. Some of them have not wear appropriate clothing to protect themselves from the heat of 40 degree. They went out without water and lost their way home. Some have gone off the main roads into the bushland that put themselves under danger.

Among these elders are people with Dementia and visitors from overseas who do not speak English and carry no identity document with them. This makes it difficult for them to seek help.

Police urge the community to be aware of the safety of the elders in the family to prevent this happen to them. They should be advised to call 000 in case of emergency. NSWPF has implemented the next-of-kin program for lone elder to register contact of family members for contact in case of emergency. Detailed information can be found in the police website www.police.nsw.gov.au

The missing elders informed Police that there have been people helping them to look for their way home without success. Information of the missing persons have been posted on social media i.e. wechat too.

Once again, Police urge people to call 000 if they come across people in need of assistance. If possible, please stay with the person in need of assistance until Police arrive.
