With agriculture and livestock exhibitions at the heart of every year’s annual event, this year’s Easter Show brings showgoers exciting elements that they have never experienced before.

One of the new attractions this year is the “Farm of the Future”, which features latest innovations in agriculture, from mustering livestock with a drone, to planting with a robot.

The District Exhibits are also back in 2018 and will again showcase the finest produce from regions across NSW and parts of southern Queensland in artful displays.

Traditionally for country towns their biggest form of entertainment across a year is their local show and the circus coming to town. This year, the Sydney Royal Easter Show has created the Greatest Easter Show Spectacular at the main arena.

With the Easter Show Hot Air Balloon as the centrepiece, trapeze artists will perform daring, and in one case a never before seen manoeuvre on silks suspended from the balloon while being slowly spun by circling horses.

Accompanying these acts will be a motorcycle high wire trapeze, the dual wheel of death and flying trapeze acts.

Entertainment for everyone

Murray Wilton, General Manager, Agriculture and Sydney Royal Easter Show, said there has never been more to keep the whole family entertained.

“From the very best of agriculture from across the state and country to the future of drones and robots on farms, delicious foods and incredible main arena entertainment, you can’t beat a day out at the Show,” Mr Wilton said.

Another brand new feature this year is the Foodtruck Feedlot, which features delicious and simple eats including Mexican, American BBQ and Greek food, while visitors can debate on the weight of a turkey displayed at the Poultry Pavilion.

“If you would like to give back to a rural community, head over to the Big Bush BBQ. You can enjoy a sausage or two knowing all funds raised will go back into the local show,” said Mr Wilton.

Educating the new generation

Also one of the objectives for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW to organise the annual spectacular is to educate young people about food origins, food security and career pathways into agriculture.

“The kids can expect to see a variety of things. We’ve got our little Hands on the Land. Children will be able to pick apples; they’ll be able to find out where their food comes from and their vegetables come from.”

“And they can make their ways through this wonderful maze that we’ve put together in Cathy Freeman Park,” Mr Wilton said, but not to miss out the all-time favourites, showbags and rides.

Before the gates open to public, in fact, a thousand of young primary school students were offered a sneak peek of the Show, being educated about agriculture and where their food comes from.

Running for 12 days, with Australian agriculture being showcased, Mr Wilton said the 2018 Royal Easter Show is not to be missed.

"I don’t think you will see anything like this anywhere in the world. We have 30-thousand entries and there are 14-thousand animals going to be here,” Mr Wilton said.

“Stand up, hop out of your seat, and come and visit us at the Sydney Royal Easter Show!”

The Show runs from Friday, 23 March, to Tuesday, 3 April. Show tickets include same-day public transport and are available from the Show’s , selected supermarkets, or the Show ticket box.
