China has confirmed it has banned the ABC's website, claiming the Australian broadcaster has breached the country's laws and regulations.

The ABC claims its site has been blocked by Chinese firewalls for almost two weeks.

Usually the ABC isn't censored by China.

However, Prime Minister Scott Morrison isn't perturbed by China banning the ABC's website.

"Well, I mean, the ABC is funded to broadcast in Australia so we're in control of that," Mr Morrison told 2GB radio on Monday.

"China's a sovereign country. They make decisions about what happens there. We make decisions about what happens here."

Beijing has not said how the ABC breaches its rules.
