Comments from fans exploded when the Taiwanese musician posted a photo showing what looks similar to the Sydney skyline on his Instragram account.
The photo, captioned 'love story of seagull and fish', had fans cited Jay's famous song 'Coral Sea'.
On New Year's Eve, Jay posted another photo, which looked like it was taken from a yacht overlooking fireworks on the Sydney Harbor Bridge, with the caption 'Happy New Year. New year came earlier for me than everybody".
One follower confirmed in comment that 'my high school friend, also a Jay Chou fan was on the same yacht as him'.

Meanwhile, Jay's wife, a celebrity and model, Hannah Quinlivan, who was born to an Australian father and a Taiwanese-Korean mother, wished fans Happy New Year with a video of Sydney's New Year Eve fireworks.

These ‘evidences’ had excited fans certain that their beloved singer was in Australia, as the Southern Hemisphere's new year comes earlier than the rest of the world, and keep wondering if he is still here on holiday.
In his next Instagram entry Jay posted a photo of himself in casual clothing feeding some black swan, with caption 'oh my old swans, please come back often'.
This post ignited creativity amongst his followers, with some jokingly commented on his casual style that he is 'giving up' his looks, while others poked fun on the use of 'old swan'.

One fan said 'Oh my old Jay, please release a new single'. Another commented that 'old swan' might just be the name of the singer's next hit.

Jay Chou, who is also an emerging film producer, actor and director, is said to come to Australia this April with a solo concert titled 'The Invincible'.
