The Federal Government is recouping more than $1.4 billion dollars

The Federal Government is promising to keep up its welfare crackdown, after recouping more than $1.4 billion dollars in almost two years.

More than 1400 cases of potential welfare fraud was investigated in the past 18 months, with prosecutors chasing almost 1000 recipients.

 

But the automated debt recovery process has been ciriticised for pursuing welfare recipients who didn't have any debt.

 

Human Services minister Michael Keenan says lessons have been learned.
