Know your rights as an Uberist

An Uber spokesperson asserted that safety comes first, noting that Uber has a responsibility to help keep people safe.

 Last week, a Sydney Uber driver has been permanently removed from the online platform's app after he was charged with indecently assaulting a 23-year-old female passenger. 

 In this regard, an Uber spokesperson said that "There’s nothing more critical than the safety of the people we serve. Through GPS tracking and increased transparency and accountability, the Uber app is able to ensure safety in ways that were not previously possible."

Regarding reporting incident the spokes person stated that "We have a dedicated Incident Response Team in Sydney who is trained to deal with serious issues that arise. When a driver-partner or a rider makes any allegation, Uber's 24/7 incident response team will investigate both sides and take any necessary action". 
 
When asked about the rights of drivers to install cameras "Uber driver-partners are independent contractors and may choose to install inward facing cameras in their vehicles for safety and security purposes. Uber does not require drivers to install such cameras and does not generally have access to the footage recorded."
