Australia has been accused of hypocrisy by pointing out the alleged human rights breaches of other countries, while continuing to hold more than 100 children in immigration detention on Nauru.
Daniel Webb, from the Human Rights Law Centre, says after being held for several years, some of the children have stopped eating or speaking, and a 10-year-old boy recently attempted suicide.
Speaking at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Mr Webb has urged the Council to hold Australia accountable for its actions.
